Craig Torres joined the Andersen Institute in June 2025 after a 23-year career at Bloomberg News where he reported on the Federal Reserve, the U.S. financial system and the economy. Torres also worked for The Wall Street Journal for a decade in a variety of roles, serving as a foreign correspondent for seven years in Mexico and Argentina.
Torres was a Pulitzer Prize finalist with a Journal team for his coverage of the 1994 Mexican peso devaluation. He was part of a team of Bloomberg reporters who won a Polk Award in 2009 for a series of stories demanding accountability from the Federal Reserve on emergency lending programs. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in English and American Literature from Harvard University, and was a Bagehot Fellow at Columbia University. Between Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal, Torres worked at an internet bank start-up owned by Banco Santander SA.
